Submitting a correction

How to report an error, a missing response or new context, and what happens next.

When to write

  • A fact, date, page number or attribution is wrong.
  • Context is missing that changes how a receipt should be read.
  • A source link is broken, or there is a better original.
  • A response or rebuttal exists that we did not list.
  • Something here exposes private information.

How

Use the form on the corrections page, or the Suggest a correction button on any receipt. You will be asked for:

  • which receipt or source it concerns;
  • a reason category;
  • a short explanation (20–2,000 characters);
  • optionally, a source URL. It is stored as text for a person to review. We never fetch it automatically.
  • optionally, a way to contact you.

The form may show a Cloudflare Turnstile check to reduce automated spam.

What happens next

A person reviews submissions privately. Nothing you send is published automatically. If a receipt changes, the change appears in that receipt’s revision history and on the corrections page, with the date, what changed, and the wording it replaced.

If the form is unavailable

When correction intake is switched off or its storage is unavailable, the form says so plainly and offers Download a correction draft. That is a text file you can keep and send later. The page will never show a “sent” message for something that was not stored.

See privacy for how submissions are kept and deleted.
